Mock Draft 21-32

21. Philadelphia Eagles: RB Donald Brown, UCONN

Brian Westbrook cant continue to take the pounding he takes. With jason peters in the fold look for andy reid to take a back who can take some of the load off westbrook.

22. Minnesota Vikings: C Alex Mack, Cal

with a need at center look for the vikings to take the best center available. that is if they can get there draft card up in time. i look foward to seeing hambos away message while he watches the draft.

23. New England Patriots: CB Alphonso Smith, Wake Forest

Sticking with the theme of my rivals picking players who burned my team in college. Who cares about height? He mustve done something right to have over 20 career INTs. He’ll look nice picking off some of chads floaters. Damn!

24. Atlanta Falcons: DT Peria Jerry, Ole Miss

With Tony Gonzalez in the fold look for the falcons to address there interior D-line and select the next best DT in this years draft class.

25. Miami Dolphins: LB Rey Maualuga, USC

Ive been reading a lot of drafts having kenny britt in this spot and I just dont see it. yeah hes tall and played in new jersey but the tuna likes production and Rey provided just that. Sure not the most technically gifted linebacker but neither is another Ray. This selection would make me extremely happy. Hed look real nice next to j peezy and channing ” i dont make big plays” crowder. next best selection would be malcolm jenkins.

26. baltimore ravens:  WR  Derrius Heyward Bay, Maryland

Seeing Ray Lewis Version 2.0 get picked one spot before look for the ravens to give rookie sensation joe flacco another target in the speedster from maryland. Kenny Britt could also fit here.

27.  Indianapolis Colts: WR Kenny Britt, Rutgers

With the loss of marvin harrison and anthony gonzalez a solid slot receiver look for the colts to give peyton another weapon to his arsenal in Kenny Britt who has the size to be a real red zone threat.

28.  Buffalo Bills:  CB Darius Butler, UCONN

After selecting jason peters replacement earlier at pick 11 look for the bills to select a cb to deal with the big receivers in the division. Watch out  Ted Ginn, Jr.

29.  New York Giants:  LB Clay Mathews, USC

While everyone has a WR penciled here I wouldnt be surprised to see them solidify there linebacking corps. With Aaron Pierce having a rough post season look for the giants to get younger at the LB spot with another generation from the mathews family.

30. Tennessee Titans: WR Hakeem Nicks, UNC

After falling to land torry holt look for the titans to get the big receiver they lack in hakeem nicks. While he showed up overweight at the combine hes a solid receiver who runs great routes with great size. A nice target for kerry collins.

31. Arizona Cardinals: RB Lesean Mccoy, PITT

With edge lookin to be on the way out and tim hightower nothing more then a goaline back who can  take some carries off the starter. Look for the cardinals to be the cardinals and reach for a tailback who most thought would go in the 2nd rd.

32. Pittsburg Steelers:  CB  Vontae Davis, Illinois

Thought about going center here to continue the great tradition of oline pivots in pittsburg but with the loss of B-Mac in free agency and vontae davis being a top 15 talent look for him to be selected with the last pick in the first round.

Mock Draft 11-20

11. Buffalo Bills: OT Andre Smith, Alabama

After trading Jason Peters this week to the eagles the bills will be looking for find his replacement. It says here they go with Andre the Giant. Considered to be a top 3 pick before being suspended for the sugarl bowl and going mia at the combine. Talent speaks for itself. Next time keep the shirt on when doin a 40 yard dash. please

12. Denver Broncos: LB  Robert Ayers, Tennessee

Defense Defense Defense. This team needs it and needs it bad. Some scouts think 5 years from now Ayers will be considered the top 1 or 2 players from this draft. Gotta start somewhere. This pick all contingent on them not trading up for Mr. Sanchez.

13.  Washington Redskins: OT Michael Oher, Ole Miss

Another team interested in Mr. Sanchez. If Mr. Sydner doesnt get his man then look for the skinnies to address a glarin hole on the o-line. Should get interesting.

14. New Orleans Saints: RB Chris Beanie Wells, The Ohio State University

Brian( Lattimore from the program) Cushing is tempting as is CB/S Malcolm Jenkins but with the deuce gone and reggie bush nothing more then a 10 carry a game type of back they need someone to hand the rock to. Wells and Bush will make a nice tandem behind Drew Brees

15. Houston Texans: LB Brian Cushing, USC

Quick name a LB on the texans? Yeah not so easy is it. Look for the texans to snag the playmaking linebacker from out west.

16.  San Diego Chargers: RB Knowshon Moreno, UGA

LT isnt gonna play forever. Heck he may not make it through the season. The chargers get his replacement in the former bulldog workhorse.

17.  The green team from New Jersey: WR Percy Harvin, UF

while the gang from new york or is it new jersey wants mark sanchez i dont believe they have the ammo to pull it off. Id love for them to take Josh Freeman because I dont think he’ll be any better then ray lucas but hey what do i know. The jets need playmaking and since I had to suffer percy slashing fsu im thinkin he will do the same against the dolphins. Hope im wrong.

18.  Denver Broncos: DE  Aaron Maybin, Penn State

Did someone say defense? The broncos continue to stock the D with the former penn state star. Stand up or sit down? who knows but when he plays he makes them.

19. tampa bay buccaneers: QB  Josh Freeman, Kansas State

Rumors say the bucs are enamored with freeman and will pounce if he is there at 19. Well Pounce on pirates pounce on.

20.  Detroit Lions: TE Brandon Pettigrew, Oklahoma State

Solid pick here as the lions give new qb stafford a solid safety volve who is just as good a blocker. If only we had J2’s special dip. MMMm!

The Great ones Mock Draft! 1-10

The great one has returned with his first and final mock draft before tomorrows NFL Draft kicks off.  Without waisting anytime here we go….

1. Detroit Lions:  QB Matt Stafford Jr. 6′3 228

Our friend J2 must be thinking please not michael crabtree! Dont worry J it looks like it wont be a wr this time around. I go with stafford here. Although he never really won big in college side for one game against the hated gators, maybe he has some peyton manning in him? Only time will tell.

2. St. Louis Rams: OT Eugene Monroe Jr. 6′6 315

With an aging qb and no more torry holt one would think instant offense and go with crabtree or sanchez but there Oline is terrible. Alex ” I had college algebra with J dub and D Scal” Barron has been nothing more then average. Its a toss up between OT jason smith from baylor but I always side with the bigger named school.

3. Kansas City Chiefs: DE Tyson Jackson  Sr. 6′4 296

The first wildcard selection as we know GM pioli wont always follow the book. Curry from Wake is considered safe but with less then 10 sacks in his career do u really take  LB who can play the run and coverage? Tyson had a low key Sr year but was dominant along with glen dorsey the year before. Id say 70/30 chance this pick gets traded for someone wanting sanchez.

4. Seattle Seahawks:  WR Michael Crabtree SO. 6′3 214

I dont buy the smoke screen of crabtree slipping all the way to 10. Why draft a qb of the future so high. In the NFL its all about today. Seattle needs weapons and crabtree is the biggest one in this draft.

5. Cleveland Browns:  QB Mark Sanchez,  USC

Things could get interesting here. Mangini isnt enamored with either derek anderson or brady quinn. The great one thinks they start fresh with sanchez and look to deal brady quinn to either the jets or vikings.

6. Cincinatti Bengals: OT Jason Smith,  Baylor

Who will the bungals go with? With cedric benson having a decent end of the year and ocho cinco still in town look for marvin lewis to sure up the O-Line.

7. Oakland Raiders:  WR Jeremy Maclin, Missouri

Al Davis loves burners and this is way to high for Mr. Track Star Darius Heyward Bay. Although I think this is quite a reach one never knows what Mr. Davis will do on draft day.

8. Jackonsville Jaguars: LB Aaron Curry, Wake Forest

Look for Jacksonville to sure up there linebacking corps by taking the top linebacker in the draft. Nice safe pick.

9. Green Bay Packers: DT  B.J. Raji, Boston College

The packers get the run stuffing space eating NT they need to rebuild there defensive line as they switch to a 3-4 defense for the upcoming year.

10. San Francisio 49′ers: DE Brian Orakpo, Texas

Not really sure where the 49′ers are gonna look. they need a wideout but none provide value at the ten spot. Wouldnt be shocked to see a trade here if a prospect falls. For now Ill go with one of the top DE’s on the board

A different kind of bracket

As a regular sports talk radio listener, one of the great ones favorite radio personalities is that of colin cowherd.  He tells it like it is even if he has a big time west coast bias. While everyone and there mother and sometimes grandmother is filling out there ncaa tourney bracket, Colin has spent the last couple of days discussing a different kind of bracket, a cereal bracket. This is no joke fellas this is real as real can get. In the finals we have frosted flakes against honey nut cheerios/cheerios.  In the final 4 frosted flakes beat out lucky charms while cheerios beat out raisin bran. This upset me greatly as two of my all time fav. cerals are lucky charms and raisin bran. Whats your take on the cereal bracket? please comment and give us your feedback. The bracket can be seen on espnradio.com or here

Team USA adds star 3b

After being reduced to only one bench player during the World baseball Classic, team usa according to espn.com has added star 3b Evan Longoria.

Third baseman Evan Longoria will be joining Team USA, according to Tampa Bay Rays general manager Andrew Friedman.

The great one although not a baseball fan does keep his eye on the sport and thinks this is a good move. He will add some pop off the bench as well as give them an option behind mets 3b David Wright. USA USA USA

Fins add DT depth

According the NFL.com as well as profootballtalk.com the miami dolphins have swung a deal with the jacksonville jaguars sending a 7th rd pick to jacksonville for DT Tony Mcdaniel who was drafted out of tennessee.

The great one says “eh”. Dont really know too much about mr.mcdaniel other then hes 6′7 310 and could push rodrique wright and lionel dalton for a roster spot.

10 over 7 is a winner again

For the second time today in the opening rd of the ncaa tourney a #10 seed has downed a #7 seed. This evening saw #10 Michigan down #7 clemson 62-59…Earlier action saw #10 Maryland down #7 california 84-71. In the great ones tourney yahoo picks you will find both of these upsets correctly picked. Who will be the next favorite to go down? In current action #3 Gonzaga is holding a slight edge over #14 akron 52-47 with just over 7 min to go.

Stallworth results are confirmed

from profootballtalk.com donte stallworth’s blood results are in and its not lookin good for the new cleveland browns wr.

CBS4 in Miami reports that Stallworth’s blood test generated a BAC reading of 0.14 percent.

The great one thinks once confirmed by authorities that stallworth should be punished to the full extent of the law. It was a disgrace that leonard little of the rams was and is still able to play in the NFL after killing someone while under the influence.  Its one thing to be given 2nd and 3rd chances after commiting acts that dont harm others but when you take someones life you should be forced to pay. And here the great one thinks stallworth will pay big, not only with jail time but with $$ in a civil suit.

Shefter says NO DEAL

According to profootballtalk.com, Adam Shefter of the NFL network in his weekly appearance on WEEI in Boston, says the rumored deal of peppers going from carolina to the patriots for there recently aquired 2nd rd pick WILL NOT happen. Shefter argues the financial commitment due to Mr. Peppers as he is a free agent as well as looming free agency for its own star players in richard seymour.

As the great one argued in a previous report there chances of signing jason taylor are far greater as adam shefter reported this rumor to be “realistic”

FSU to Appeal NCAA sanctions

According to various sporting news outlets, Florida State university will officially appeal the NCAA sanctions handed down just over a week ago. Specifically they will target the purging of wins in 10 different sports due to using ineligible players. FSU and rightfully so has argued a player is only ineligible when he has been determined to have committed a wrong doing. How can a player be ineligible if the coaching staff nor the university knew at the time any wrong doing was committed? Sounds to the great one like the NCAA is trying to get back at FSU after they successfully defended the use of the Seminole nickname. To me this goes beyond simply bowden vs. paterno its a case of right and wrong.

Peppers to the Pats?

While many speculated the pats would make a run at a veteran DE, many thought it would be jason taylor not julius peppers. However, NFL.com is reporting the pats are in talks with the panthers that would send peppers to the pats for the 2nd rd pick (#34) aquired from the chiefs in the matt cassel. Just another case of the rich getting richer? While the great one agree’s peppers can be a force when he wants to aka contract year. This doesnt suit the pats style of low cost veteran aquisitions. It can be reasoned that Jason Taylor only a season removed from being defensive player of the year, could be had for a lot less money as well as holding on to the valuable high 2nd rd pick.

Donte Stallworth Kills a florida man

from the nypost.com

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth hit and killed a pedestrian with his Bentley Saturday morning on a busy causeway linking Miami and Miami Beach, police said.

Stallworth was headed toward the beach when he hit a 49-year-old man around 7 a.m., said Miami Beach police spokesman Juan Sanchez. The unidentified pedestrian was taken to a nearby trauma center, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later. He was near a crosswalk but it’s not clear if he was crossing legally.

Stallworth, 28, was cooperating and no charges have been filed, Sanchez said. Officers drew blood to test for drugs or alcohol, which is routine, but police said it was too early to tell if Stallworth was impaired or violating traffic laws. Police would not say where he was coming from or where he was headed.

Miami-Dade County property records show he owns two condos in a building on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami not far from the causeway and another condo in a different building in Miami.

A message seeking comment was left on the voicemail of his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Stallworth signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Browns as a free agent before last season but hardly played because he was hurt. He was due a $4.75 million signing bonus Friday.

He previously played for the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints in the NFL and the University of Tennessee in college.

Mustache leads to a fight?

from espn.com

RENO, Nev. — The mascots for Utah State and New Mexico State got physical with each other down the stretch of the teams’ Western Athletic Conference tournament semifinal Friday night.

During a timeout with 7 seconds left and New Mexico State leading 70-69, Utah State’s mascot, “Big Blue” the bull, confronted New Mexico State’s “Pistol Pete” cowboy mascot and ripped off his fake mustache.

The cowboy then chased the bull to halfcourt, jumped on his back and tried unsuccessfully to pull him to the floor.

“Pistol Pete” then started to try to choke his rival before retreating to his end of the court.

Several newspaper photographers covering the game said they heard a man in a Nevada shirt offer the Utah State mascot $100 to go grab the mustache.

The man confirmed to The Associated Press that was true and that he paid the mascot the $100, but declined to provide his name. He said he did not expect New Mexico State’s “Pistol Pete” to respond the way he did.

the great one says this is the kind of thing he would beg one and plead with one of his friends to do only to walk away like he had nothing to do with it after the deed was done to rid himself of any potential blame.

Galloway to the Pats

When your a veteran whose recently been cut and your lookin to recussitate your career where do you sign? The new england patriots of course. according to profootballtalk.com Joey Galloway formerly of the bucs has signed on with the patsies for a one year deal to play alongside randy moss and former dolphin wes welker. As a dolphin fan the great one says the dolphins are really gonna need to draft them some corners, because will allen and eric geen aint gonna cut it. I know dubstyle will agree with me but I really hope the trifecta drafts alphonso smith. I dont care that he’s 5′9 when you get 20 plus interceptions your doing something right.

2 more top seeds lose

After recent losses by potential #1 seeds; uconn, pitt and oklahoma. Michigan state was lookin to squeeze out a number one seed had they won the big 10 tournament. But after losing 82-70 to thee ohio state university they join the list of neverminds. Also, our fellow seminoles were able to take down Tyler Hansbrough and #1 UNC in the semifinals of the acc tourney 73-70. Tony douglass who finished 2nd in acc player of the year voting to unc’s ty lawson who was out with an injury paced the seminoles with 27 points. The seminoles will take on either duke or maryland tomorrow at 1pm for the acc championship crown.

Another bubble bursts!

The university of florida gators fell last night to fellow bubble team auburn in a tight knit game that was still in contention when Tigers guard Quantez Robertson blocked 5-foot-8 freshman guard Erving Walker’s three-point shot to tie the game as time expired. The gators fell 61-58 all but ending there chances at making the ncaa tourney. They are to be the first time in history to follow 2 straight national titles with 2 straight NIT appearances.

The great one doesn’t feel one bit of sadness for those in hogtown. They were able to get a collection of 3 special talents who worked well together and decided to stay in school together in al horford, joakin noah and corey brewer along with steady pg taureen green. Coach billy donovan shouldve taken the money when he had a chance to coach the orlando magic and star center dwight howard.  Instead he’s back to where the hogtowners have always been, a middle of the pack sec team.

Big moves coming in detroit?

according to profootballtalk.com it looks like there is a big trade a brewing between detroit and seattle involving former franchised DT Corey Redding.

As it turns out, the Seahawks could be trading the back end of one big-money contract for another.

Amid rumors that the Detroit Lions are involved in significant trade talks, a league source tells us that the subject of the discussions is defensive tackle Cory Redding, and that the team to which he might be traded is the Seahawks.

Redding signed a seven-year, $49 million contract two years ago, while under the franchise player designation in Detroit.  Per NFLPA records, he has five years and $25.6 million in base salary remaining on the deal.

The Seahawks reportedly will be cutting linebacker Julian Peterson, who in 2006 signed a seven-year, $54 million deal.  The move will allow the Seahawks to avoid more than $30 million in salary obligations over the next four seasons.

Potential compensation to the Lions for Redding isn’t yet known.  Seattle currently holds the fourth overall pick in the 2009 draft, and it’s unlikely that the team would give up that much in order to land Redding.

Former WWE wrestler found dead

According to the sun-sentinel.com:  Andrew Martin, who wrestled under the name “Test” has been found dead in his tampa area home.

A Tampa television station’s Web site is reporting that Andrew Martin, a professional wrestler who went by the name “Test,” was found dead in his Tampa apartment last night.

Tampa police responded to a call from a concerned neighbor of the former World Wrestling Entertainment wrestler, who had requested a welfare check, according to the Web site. Police do not suspect foul play at this time.

The great one thinks that something needs to be done about these former wrestlers that keep showing up dead.  Why should a guy who was working for a multi billion dollar company have to be requesting a welfare check upon his retirement. Test was probably best known for his “T and A” bit along with the former wwe womans champ Trish Status.
