Last night Alexander Ovechkin scored his 50th goal of the season and celebrated by doing what was like an NFL touchdown celebration. He dropped his stick to the ice and tried to put it out like it was on fire. I think this was hilarious, but could this start a trend in the NHL after goals are scored? I dont think it will be as big as it was in the NFL but it might change the way goals are celebrated. Heres the video.
In beating the wayne gretzky led coyotes martin brodeur tied patrick roy for most wins by a goalie in nhl history. It just so happens that the devils next game will be played in monreal against the canadiens. Due to the fact Roy is a GM for a junior league team his schedule is hectic but playing in montreal will allow Roy to be in attendance for the game. While many viewed them as hostile enemies during there playing careers both men painted a different picture one centered on respect for one another.
The great one thinks this is just another reason the NHL needs to get back onto national television. I know Id tune in to watch a chance at history. However the NHL isnt broadcast on our cable package. Thanks Mr. Betteman Thanks.
I saw this video on ESPN this morning and felt it had to be shared because its just too classic to stay hidden. Apparently, Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals filmed several commercials with http://www.Easterns.com and http://www.Gearshift.tv. In this video, Alex sings the “famous” jingle.
Coming from an advertising background, the Ovechkin ad is far from a disaster. It may cause him to be made fun of quite a bit by teammates but I can guarantee that plenty of people saw the clip, went straight to youtube and saw the links I posted and checked out the site. Its a very clever campaign that is sure to get quite a few eyes.
The Panthers began the night in 7th place in the Eastern Conference, and in attempt to keep up with the rest of the teams in the playoff race, were upended by the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 tonight at the HSBC Center in Buffalo.
It was probably a good idea that this game was not televised locally as the Panthers, shorthanded once again without Nathan Horton and Brian McCabe did little to help their chances in a race where spots 5-10 are only separated by 5 points. Tomas Vokun faced roughly 30 less shot tonight than he did Tuesday night when the Penguins sent 50 at him, however the Panthers improved defense for their goaltender still could not keep the Sabres at bay.
The Sabres Jaroslav Spacek opened up the scoring with his 8th goal of the year at 3:04 of the first period with a wrist shot to beat Vokun.
The Panthers quickly bounced back six minutes later when little known player Michal Repik tied the game at 1 with his second of the year, helped by an assist from David Booth.
Daniel Paille then sent a shot past Vokun in what would prove to be the game winner at 17:05 to close the first period scoring.
The only other goal of the game came from Buffalo’s top scorer Thomas Vanek with his 34th on the powerplay at 17:08 of the third period to close the door on Florida.
A key point in the 3rd was Buffalo’s killing of a 2-man advantage the Panthers had for over a minute. The Panthers only managed one shot on goal in this time.
This game marked the first return of Panthers forward Richard Zednick to Buffalo since his neck injury last year when then fellow Panther Olli Jokinen’s skate slashed Zednick and severed his carotid artery.
The loss paired with the Pens picking up 1 point in their OT loss and the Rangers win against Nashville put the Panthers in 9th and on the outside looking in. The Panthers however do have a game-in-hand on 8th place Carolina. The Panthers return home to Sunrise on Saturday to face In-state rival Tampa Bay.
As a huge fan of the New York Rangers, I am more than happy to welcome Sean Avery back to the team that should never let him go in the first place. With Sean Avery comes a incredibly hard worker and an annoyance to the opposing team. He is the guy that you hate to play against but love him on your team.
Sean left the Rangers for the Dallas Stars to get his big payday and promptly decided to speak out about another player dating his former girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert and referring to her as his “sloppy-seconds”:
But lets not forget this is hockey folks, these guys just aren’t smart. Not that I am saying what he said what right but he said it he apologized lets move on and get back to this!!

After reading summaries of The American Press Institutes "Newspaper Economic Action Plan", I still stand my feelings that I don't feel confident it will succeed (yet).
I have spent the entire day playing with Microsoft's new Search Engine Bing (previously Live Search) and reading tons and tons of reviews and opinions on the site.
In the beginning of the year, wasn't the big news that Baby Boomers were joining Facebook in droves (yes, my Mother joined)??? Ah, the fickle and ever-changing world of 2.0.
I am starting to feel like a broken record but Twitter is still growing... and rightfully so. The success stories keep pouring in from across the interwebs, especially in regards to local businesses. Business owners are using Twitter to communicate with customers as well as run promotions.
This Mother's Day, thousands of people placed their orders for flowers online through F.T.D or 1-800-FLOWERS. And hundreds of people received their flowers late and/or not at all. Something new? Nope. So why the big deal now? One word: Twitter.
With the explosive growth of Twitter over the last few months many companies are standing on the sidelines wondering how to get started and are plagued with questions. Here are a few tips to help you make some sense of the Twitterverse and Tweet with confidence.
In my last blog post, "Social Media is growing...and it's growing fast", I mentioned the fast pace social media campaigns are growing at and how it's pertinent to have an agency manage that campaign for you. I want to back that statement up with a few points on why and how it can be so difficult to manage on your own.
