Mock Draft 21-32

21. Philadelphia Eagles: RB Donald Brown, UCONN

Brian Westbrook cant continue to take the pounding he takes. With jason peters in the fold look for andy reid to take a back who can take some of the load off westbrook.

22. Minnesota Vikings: C Alex Mack, Cal

with a need at center look for the vikings to take the best center available. that is if they can get there draft card up in time. i look foward to seeing hambos away message while he watches the draft.

23. New England Patriots: CB Alphonso Smith, Wake Forest

Sticking with the theme of my rivals picking players who burned my team in college. Who cares about height? He mustve done something right to have over 20 career INTs. He’ll look nice picking off some of chads floaters. Damn!

24. Atlanta Falcons: DT Peria Jerry, Ole Miss

With Tony Gonzalez in the fold look for the falcons to address there interior D-line and select the next best DT in this years draft class.

25. Miami Dolphins: LB Rey Maualuga, USC

Ive been reading a lot of drafts having kenny britt in this spot and I just dont see it. yeah hes tall and played in new jersey but the tuna likes production and Rey provided just that. Sure not the most technically gifted linebacker but neither is another Ray. This selection would make me extremely happy. Hed look real nice next to j peezy and channing ” i dont make big plays” crowder. next best selection would be malcolm jenkins.

26. baltimore ravens:  WR  Derrius Heyward Bay, Maryland

Seeing Ray Lewis Version 2.0 get picked one spot before look for the ravens to give rookie sensation joe flacco another target in the speedster from maryland. Kenny Britt could also fit here.

27.  Indianapolis Colts: WR Kenny Britt, Rutgers

With the loss of marvin harrison and anthony gonzalez a solid slot receiver look for the colts to give peyton another weapon to his arsenal in Kenny Britt who has the size to be a real red zone threat.

28.  Buffalo Bills:  CB Darius Butler, UCONN

After selecting jason peters replacement earlier at pick 11 look for the bills to select a cb to deal with the big receivers in the division. Watch out  Ted Ginn, Jr.

29.  New York Giants:  LB Clay Mathews, USC

While everyone has a WR penciled here I wouldnt be surprised to see them solidify there linebacking corps. With Aaron Pierce having a rough post season look for the giants to get younger at the LB spot with another generation from the mathews family.

30. Tennessee Titans: WR Hakeem Nicks, UNC

After falling to land torry holt look for the titans to get the big receiver they lack in hakeem nicks. While he showed up overweight at the combine hes a solid receiver who runs great routes with great size. A nice target for kerry collins.

31. Arizona Cardinals: RB Lesean Mccoy, PITT

With edge lookin to be on the way out and tim hightower nothing more then a goaline back who can  take some carries off the starter. Look for the cardinals to be the cardinals and reach for a tailback who most thought would go in the 2nd rd.

32. Pittsburg Steelers:  CB  Vontae Davis, Illinois

Thought about going center here to continue the great tradition of oline pivots in pittsburg but with the loss of B-Mac in free agency and vontae davis being a top 15 talent look for him to be selected with the last pick in the first round.

Bubble’s a bursting?

In todays early games 2 teams who most likely needed another W before they could feel safe about there tourney chances went down. Virginia Tech gave UNC missing star guard ty lawson everything it could handle in losing 79-76. Likewise Minnesota with Ralph Sampson III and coach tubby smith kept it close against Michigan State ,  being down only down 33-30 at halftime  before losing 64-56. Whose bubble will be next to burst? As I type Kentucky is trailing LSU early in the 2nd half. Can anyone imagine a tourney without mainstays Arizona and Kentucky?

Dolphins FINALLY add a corner!!

The Miami Dolphins announced today that they have signed Arizona Cardinals unrestricted free agent cornerback Eric Green, a former third-round draft pick.

According to NFL.com, Green has registered 169 career tackles, two interceptions, 31 pass deflections, seven forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in four NFL seasons.

The 26-year-old has started 33 games.

Last year, Green recorded 39 tackles and a fumble recovery in five starts for the Cardinals during their Super Bowl run before losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Green, a Florida native, played at Virginia Tech where he intercepted eight passes with 143 tackles.

Unfortunately, only clip I could find was from his college days however, fortunately its a wonderful interception against the Canes…love it!

31 Teams just added Anquan Boldin to their shopping list

Per Profootballtalk.com, the Arizona Cardinals are shopping receiver Anquan Boldin.

Boldin, a six-year veteran, is signed through 2010. He has wanted for roughly a year a significant increase from his current range of $2.5 million to $3 million. With teammate Larry Fitzgerald at $10 million per year, Boldin is believed to want at least $9 million annually.

Boldin has requested a trade on numerous occasions after the Cardinals backed out on a promise to take care of him and then turned around and gave the big money contract to Fitzgerald.

Get out your pocket books NFL teams, it wont be cheap to get this NFL superstar.

Where could he end up? Dolphins maybe? Pricetag may be too steep for the typically fickle Fins however the chance to get a true star is rare.

To Be Continued…..

Warner Wants to Stay in Zona

Kurt Warner finally did the honorable thing by (allegedly) informing his agent to make an offer to the Cardinals so that a deal can get done. Included in Warner’s proposal is the promise to knock $1 million off per yr (of the 2 yr deal) if the Cardinals can also get a deal done with Anquan Bolden.

It will be pretty tough for the Cardinals to mess this up, however….They are the Cardinals.

Cutler to….Anywhere but Denver

How ridiculously ignorant can the Broncos be here? Why would they burn bridges with their franchise qb to attempt (and fail) to get Matt Cassell??? This baffles me. Granted Jay Cutler isnt Peyton Manning but he is all that Denver has right now and he is the type of guy that will tank a season to get his point across that he wants out. So now the Broncos are forced to get rid of their only quality offensive player (that hasnt been in significant off-the-field troubles) and probably get no where near what they should get in return.

So where can he end up? Reports are saying Minnesota, Detroit, New York Jets, Cleveland. I am going to throw another team in there (even if it is only a negotiation ploy). I am going to say that the team that will surface will be the Arizona Cardinals!

Why the Cardinals? If you really think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Kurt Warner is being wined and dined by the 49ers and isn’t going for the $10 mil per yr offer by the Cardinals (As a former great theorist by the name of Latrell Sprewell once put it, “I gotta feed my kids!”) If they were to enter “trade negotiations” now they can at least get Warner to snap out of it and realize $10 mil + plus a pretty good offer for someone his age OR they can actually pull off the trade and bring in a young qb that they can actually build around that isn’t named Matt Leinart. It also adds a gun slinging qb to a receiver friendly offense and in return maybe Arizona can send Leinart to Denver where he can get a fresh start on a quality team.

Sounds like a win-win to me!!
