Miami Herald: Patriots inch ahead of Miami Dolphins with offseason moves

Really? According to the Miami Herald the Patriots have moved past the Dolphins with their offseason moves. Again, Really?

Was there ever a question that the Patriots had more talent than the fins before, during and after last season? The point this article missed was that it was not about talent. The best teams win as a team!! This is the mold that the patriots perfected!

The Dolphins, although much less talented still were a better TEAM than the Pats last yr. So (sorry miami herald) was just a space filler.

Lets see who does more during the draft and works harder ON THE FIELD before we say who is better!!

NO MORE PAPER CHAMPIONS!

Dolphins FINALLY add a corner!!

The Miami Dolphins announced today that they have signed Arizona Cardinals unrestricted free agent cornerback Eric Green, a former third-round draft pick.

According to NFL.com, Green has registered 169 career tackles, two interceptions, 31 pass deflections, seven forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in four NFL seasons.

The 26-year-old has started 33 games.

Last year, Green recorded 39 tackles and a fumble recovery in five starts for the Cardinals during their Super Bowl run before losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Green, a Florida native, played at Virginia Tech where he intercepted eight passes with 143 tackles.

Unfortunately, only clip I could find was from his college days however, fortunately its a wonderful interception against the Canes…love it!

31 Teams just added Anquan Boldin to their shopping list

Per Profootballtalk.com, the Arizona Cardinals are shopping receiver Anquan Boldin.

Boldin, a six-year veteran, is signed through 2010. He has wanted for roughly a year a significant increase from his current range of $2.5 million to $3 million. With teammate Larry Fitzgerald at $10 million per year, Boldin is believed to want at least $9 million annually.

Boldin has requested a trade on numerous occasions after the Cardinals backed out on a promise to take care of him and then turned around and gave the big money contract to Fitzgerald.

Get out your pocket books NFL teams, it wont be cheap to get this NFL superstar.

Where could he end up? Dolphins maybe? Pricetag may be too steep for the typically fickle Fins however the chance to get a true star is rare.

To Be Continued…..

Holt and Pace Likely Wont Be Rams Much Longer

Per ProFootballTalk.com, neither Torry Holt nor Orlando Pace, once superstars on the Super Bowl championship team, have been invited to the first offseason work out program.

In fact, according to the Sports Xchange, Holt has not heard from anyone in the entire organization since Steve Spagnuolo became head coach.

Seems safe to say they are pulling the old Steve McNair/Daunte Culpepper routine so they can shop these guys without risking injury.

Holt to the Dolphins anybody???

Jason Brown’s Deal with the Rams….REJECTED!

Per Profootballtalk.com, The NFL has rejected St. Louis Rams center Jason Brown’s five-year, $37.5 million contract, according to Howard Balzer of the Sports Xchange. However, the Rams and Brown’s agents are making changes to the deal to comply with league regulations.

According to the article, the problem involves a $2.3 million buyback clause in the final year of the former Baltimore Ravens starter’s deal. The contract could void after four years depending on whether performance and team incentives are triggered, but the Rams have the option to buy back that fifth year.

Under NFL rules governing the collective bargaining agreement, salaries aren’t allowed to go up by more than 30 percent annually from the first-year figure.

Brown is due a combined $4 million for 2009. Hence, his compensation can’t increase by more than $1.2 million per year.

According to Balzer, Brown is due $5 million in 2012 and $6.2 million in 2013. Including a buyback in 2013, Brown would be paid $8.5 million in 2013. That would represent an increase of $3.5 million from 2012, which isn’t allowed under NFL rules.

If this falls apart you could imagine some times like the Dolphins chomping at the bit.

Jake Grove – New Starting Center for the Miami Dolphins

Now-Former Raiders center Jake Grove has agreed to a five-year, $29 million contract with the Miami Dolphins. The deal includes $14.5 million guaranteed. Dolphins finally make a free-agent splash with a player I have been a fan of since his college days.

Grove was a second-round pick of the Raiders in 2004 and has 46 career starts in five NFL seasons.

Bravo to Parcells and company to continue to build teams the correct way…from the inside out!!

Jason Taylor back to Miami?

Well, not so fast. A little bit of controversy was stirred up when a person impersonating a Miami Herald sports reporter left a comment on an article on Miamiherald.com saying that Jason Taylor was coming home to Miami after signing a 1 year deal. Welllll as I mentioned it was an impersonator and the Fins in fact have not even contacted JT yet.

Coming from a die hard Dolfan and a Miami native, naturally I was one of the people who got real excited about the idea of his return. Then I remembered the circus that surrounded him before he was traded.

Jason Taylor is a great football player but his heart has obviously been elsewhere since he signed on to be on “Dancing with the Stars” and the ridiculous thought entered his mind that he can be a Hollywood actor much like The Rock. As I mentioned, I am from Miami and I have had the privilege of meeting Jason and I can tell you (with all due respect) the man is no actor. He’s extremely monotone and if he tried to go after an acting career I think you will see a career more equivalent to Rick Fox than The Rock.

Anyway, back to Jason Taylor’s NFL career, according to mutiple reports, as many as 12 teams have contacted JT’s agent so far. My advise to all of these teams would be to stay in contact with this man and really feel him out before giving him millions. If his heart is not into it, in my mind, it is not worth it to a team to sign a guy past his prime who will miss training camp which more times than not results in an injury by the end of the season.

Advise to JT….I am a huge fan of yours but PLEASE, get over yourself. Either play the game as you always have or retire. NFL fans are tired of seeing premadonna athletes say they are too good to work out with the team. You worked your entire career to not be that so don’t ruin it now.
